Dozens of women have accused Cosby of sexual assaulting them, often after plying them with drugs, in a series of attacks dating to the 1960s. She revealed that they had been in constant touch to discuss about the renovations of several facilities given to the basketball team. Allred immediately left the courtroom and was allowed back in after a break.
She says her daughter, Kelly Johnson, later disclosed that she had woken up next to Cosby in bed with her clothes askew. This was new, legal territory for her, and she wanted to make sure she was represented. If she hadn't, she would've been ejected. I could see two of him.
She also admitted that she returned to Cosby's Elkins Park home, which is just outside Philadelphia, after the alleged assault had taken place, even bringing him a gift of bath salts.
"I don't really remember how dim the lights were, but I did have to eat my dinner", Constand said.
The comedian's demeanor noticeably changed when Constand was testifying about the night at the center of the case. She was on the stand for seven hours. In 2016, after an avalanche of sexual assault allegations and details from depositions during Constand's civil suit against Cosby (he settled with her) were released, Montgomery County prosecutors reopened their case against Cosby and arrested him for indecent assault.
Phone records showed Constand called Cosby 53 times between January 20, 2004, days after the incident, and March 31, 2004, when she left Temple University, including twice on Valentine's Day.
Cosby, 79, is charged with drugging and violating Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. According to CBS, Constand's testimony continues Wednesday. Agrusa also questioned Constand's 2004 police account that she did not spend time alone with Cosby before the incident in his home. "In my head, I was trying to get my hands to move or my legs to move, and I was frozen". Gianna Constand is expected to be called as a witness for the prosecution.
During the start of the cross-examination of Constand, defense lawyer Angela C. Agrusa suggested Constand gave inconsistent statements to investigators concerning her contact with Cosby before and after the alleged incident and implied her testimony can not be trusted.
Cosby arrived in court Wednesday along with his longtime hair stylist John Achison and Achison's wife, actress Sheila Frazier.
Frazier is best-known for her starring role in the 1972 cult blaxploitation film, "Super Fly".
"Her legs were feeling like jelly", Dave Mason, the detective who took Andrea Constand's initial police report in 2005, testified while recalling what Constand said at the time.
Her claim is the only one to reach court because the time limits on all the others have run out. "Yet, she told police initially that she had not tried to contact him". If convicted, the comedian could face a decade in prison.
The defence has argued the two had a romantic relationship, that Ms Constand was not incapacitated, and that the sexual encounter was consensual.
