Celtics' Thomas out for rest of playoffs with hip injury

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are on the verge of making their second consecutive 10-0 start to the National Basketball Association playoffs when they face the Boston Celtics today. The Cavs dominated both games, mostly with an offense that generates terrific shots both inside and outside the arc, and flawless execution.

After having lost Games 1 and 2 at the TD Garden in blowout fashion, sitting Thomas for the remainder of this series might be the best and wisest course of action. If they don't accomplish that, there will be no Game 5 to fly home to.

James and Love again did whatever they wanted against the defenders the Celtics put in front of them, scoring 30 and 21 points, respectively.

That game was an example of Thomas battling through the pain he was suffering as the Celtics would end up clinching the series in seven games.

"There were times where you could see he was really struggling, but probably nothing like the other night", Stevens said. So we're going to focus on us, we're going to figure out ways to play better and we're going to go after it on Sunday.

"When we're blitzing and rotating and scrambling, he's the best we can have on the back line", Lue explained. "We had some good looks, then we started to kind of get discouraged".

"I look at LeBron like Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal)", said Lue.

Game 2 was a pummeling of epic proportions as the Cavs destroyed the Celtics 130-86.

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Cavaliers were not happy with the way they played in the third quarter of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, but they made some improvements out of the halftime break in Game 2, and they were quite successful.

"The game's over. We've already been embarrassed". In the series opener against Cleveland, he posted just his second double-double of the 2017 postseason, but finished the game 7-for-19 shooting from the field overall. It would have been no surprise if Thomas decided not to play for the entirety of the playoffs.

"I am a guy that lives in the moment".

Of course, not only will Thomas miss the rest of the series against the Cavs, he won't be able to return if the Celtics make the NBA Fina-hahahahahaha, just kidding.

"We got our ass kicked".

"I hope not", he said.

It was one of those plays where once you saw LeBron start to chop his feet, you knew that Bradley was about to get pinned not only on the backboard, but on the Twitter profiles of everyone who was eager to roast him.

"I believe we have another level as well".

Thomas will have additional tests Saturday and will be re-evaluated before the team determines his status for Game 3. The No. 1-seeded Celtics must win at least one of those games if they are going to play another home game this season.
